“SYNAGOGUE” SIGNED ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING BY THE ISRAELI ARTIST ZVI RAPHAELI (1924-2005) This remarkable impressionist painting, an interior view of a Synagogue, is by the Israeli artist Zvi Raphaeli, who is known for his prominent impasto technique that brings depth to his paintings. This is an excellent example of the artist’s work. The medium is oil on canvas, measuring 30 x 24 inches in size. The painting is signed by the artist twice, in English lower left and in Hebrew lower right. A label is attached to the stretcher bar edge with the artist’s name, title and size of the painting: RAPHAELI SYNAGOGUE OIL “30 X “24 V. and also the numbers: 758. The painting comes with frame, which measures 38 1/2 x 32 1/2 inches. PLEASE NOTE CONDITION: The painting has been cleaned and restored by a professional conservator. A few small flakes of paint layer loss were repaired. The painting is in excellent restored condition. Frame has slight hint of wear. Zvi Raphaeli, born in Egypt in 1924. was an Israeli impressionist painter. A rabbi by profession, he merged religion and art deftly in his paintings. He studied art at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and also at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. Raphaeli was a member of the French resistance during WW II.
