You are bidding on one iron or blade or cutter for a Fulton Tool Company wood block plane as pictured.It is marked “FULTON TOOL CO WARRANTED”. Width at the lower edge is about 1-5/8″, and overall length is about 4-5/16″, not including the lever.The shape of the iron and the attached lateral lever strongly suggest it was made by Sargent for Fulton.An online search will yield that the Fulton Tool Company was established as the Fulton Tool Works in Canal Fulton, Ohio, about 1882. Fulton branded tools were featured by Sears beginning in about 1905, and continued until 1927 when Sears began marketing Craftsman tools. Note that this iron has the notches on the back side, the long oval hole or slot for the lateral lever, and the lateral adjuster attached to the iron with the little screw. Condition is good, with some scattered rust and pitting on both sides, mostly near the middle. The lever turns easily. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it’s not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20″ long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30″ long, because those longer packages won’t fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item.
