Hullk Junior. The work dates c1890, possibly slightly earlier. Abraham Hulk Junior (1851 – 1922), the younger of the Hulk’ family of artists, was a prolific landscape painter, working in watercolours, widely exhibited including the Royal Academy, Royal Society of Artists in Birmingham and the Walker Gallery, Liverpool. Several examples of Hulk’s work can be seen on artprice.com, findartinfo.com, besides the auction sites of bonhams.com, sothebys.com, christies.com and several leading provincial auction houses. This is typically a strong example of Hulk’s work, a broad vista landscape layered by high clouds, birds swarming over the trees giving the picture much depth.
