CHANDLER, RHODES & OTHERS – EDGEFIELD, SOUTH CAROLINA – (19) DECORATED POTTERY SHERD STUDY PIECES COLLECTION – INCREDIBLY NICE STUDY OR DISPLAY PIECES!!! GROUP 2 Up for Auction is: CHANDLER, RHODES & OTHERS – EDGEFIELD, SOUTH CAROLINA – (19) DECORATED POTTERY SHERD STUDY PIECES COLLECTION – GROUP 2. These (19) Thomas Chandler, Collin Rhodes and Others, Edgefield, South Carolina Decorated Pottery Bowl, Crock and Jug Sherds with Nice Painted or Squeeze-Bag Decorations on All of them, were Made during the 1830’s to the 1850’s and are Approximately (Size Range is 4-1/2″ x 4″ to 1-1/4″ x 1-1/8″). Early Edgefield Pottery Decorated Pottery Pieces are Incredibly Difficult to Find and Extremely Expensive when you Do Find them, so Many Collectors also Collect Pottery Sherds as Study Pieces and Display Pieces, that way you can Have a Nice Selection of Pieces to Look at to Help with Identifying Unsigned Pieces!!! I Purchased these Edgefield Pottery Sherds from a Fellow Collector probably (10-15) years ago and he Told me that they were from All Over the Edgefield Area, so I Don’t Know which Sherd is From Which Pottery, though Many of them are Quite Obviously Thomas Chandler Pieces… These Edgefield Pottery Decorated Sherds Collection are in Very Good Condition, especially when considering that they are Broken Pieces off of Bowls, Crocks and Jugs, with Only the Typical Broken & Chipped Edges that Broken Sherds have from being Dug out of Waster Dumps, Privies or Trash Piles (Please See Photos), otherwise they are in Very Good Condition and will Look Great in your Display Case!!!
