Size: 25.6″ L x 34″ H x 5.7″ W Rainbow 1934 J Boat America’s Cup Rainbow 1934 J Boat Yacht Model 25.6″ This high quality, Rainbow 1934 America’s Cup J Class yacht model is brand new, fully assembled and ready for display (not a kit). This model sailboat requires some easy semi-assembly you will need to raise up the mast, unfurl the sails and adjust the rigging (please see pictures above for instructions). The rigging attaches with hooks (no knot tying). This Rainbow 1934 sailboat model was specially designed & built by the plank on frame method (joining multiple small pieces of basswood together on the hull). The hull has been painted with high gloss black topsides and a white bottom. Inlaid wooden deck strips simulate the original teak deck. The scale deck hardware is hand tooled of metal. Detailed rigging and crisp white sails with authentic stitching (the sails in the pictures have been grayed slightly so that you can see them). The yacht model comes complete with a stand and nameplate. Numbered and dated certificate of authenticity included. The Rainbow was designed by W. Starling Burgess and was launched on May 15 1934, at the Herreshoff Yard in Bristol, Rhode Island. She was built for Mike Vanderbilt to defend the America’s Cup against Endeavour. Rainbow beat Endeavour in the last four races to win the 1934 America’s Cup. Sadly the Rainbow was sold for scrap in 1940. A replica of the famous Rainbow is being built in Holland at the Bloemsma yard, the keel was laid in 2009. design. The model is built exactly to scale as the original Rainbow was. The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish. The model measures 25.6″ long from bow to stern.
